/Edit/Urk! My subscription is running low again. I have time for a chibi or two to bring it back up by a couple or months. I'll do chibi lines for one month sub and full colour with shading and all for a three month subcription. Or, a full body or bust of some kind. Any takers? Please note me. I hate the ads.
/end Edit/Life is fine. Work is fine. Everything is fine. My home cpu is back up to speed ( for those who weren't aware it was working strangely--well it was. But now its not; ) and the transition from art on the laptop to art on the usual screen is slow but sure.
To clarify my recently having put up a profile for the OCBZ league, this is not to be taken as dropping responsibilities only to gain others--it is more of a pet project for me to work on inbetween real work and art for money. I do intend to revisit SDL, but I need to be kick started in a more open enviroment and a place where the twins can be their usual selves seems like a fine place to start.
More movies to review:
The Men Who Stare At Goats A strange and quirky movie, I can't really decide if I liked it or not. I mean, I liked it as I laughed quite a bit through it. But, I wonder if it is my odd personality that draws me to this variety of film making--awkward comedy. In any case, its a good and funny movie but if you don't have the money for it around now, you won't die of wanting it between here and the DVD release.

Astroboy This is another movie wherein I find myself a bit conflicted. My friends thought it wasn't so hot. Personally, I really liked the movie. Not having much prior knowledge of the astroboy series or comics, I easily accepted anything they put forward as fact and hence was undistracted. The animation is decent and the idea is good, if not overly serious when aimed at such a young audience. However, I did find it enjoyable.
Silence Of The Lambs I really enjoyed this, in a strange, creepy way.
Zombieland Fuck yes. Fuck. Yes. See This Movie. I am not kidding. I laughed quite a bit. Its an american Shaun of the Dead with a bit more purpose or plot. Entertaining.
Where the Wild Things Are I don't really know what to think of this movie. I must like it because I think about it relatively often--analyzing the different events and comparing them to my daily thoughts--But I left the theatre a little disappointed. I don't know what I expected. But the film got better in my memory over time. It was very HUMAN. Filled with lots of strange emotional turbulance? It was OK I guess.
Couple's Retreat Saw this with the little lady. Predictable movie with nothing unexpected. Did score that night though.
9 I was so utterly disappointed in the ending of this movie. I really enjoyed the idea behind it--and the CG was wonderful. The creatures were outlandish, creepy, and the appearance of each one had you hungering for another one of their strange beings--but in the end the story fell apart into some horrible jumbled mess. The premise was there and it had lots of cool pieces--but it couldn't be saved. I would pay to unsee it.
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs I went into this movie with absolutely no expectation--and with this I achieved extreme luls through this movie. I read the book as a very young child but didn't remember much, however this did not add or detract from the movie in any way. Wonderful. I highly recommend it.
The Day The Earth Stood Still Keano Reeves. Terrible. Nuff said.
Knowing I am always amazed by how much they can pin on aliens. Everything but that part was great. But it is hindered by the social stigma that CHILDREN DO NOT DIE. This is simply not true. If the world was exploding, children would also explode, face it. Not miraculously be saved by aliens.
Funny People Unimpressive. I see Sandler's midlife crisis in motion and I'm not keen.
Hamlet 2 A very very strange romp through fictional theatre--it was very much a film that was like watching what it represented. Its one of those train wrecks where you can't quite look away? It definitely starts way too slow for me before rocketing into actually interesting territory in the end. And then it was over. I kind of wanted to say, fuck the movie, I want to see the whole play they were "producing". Hah hah hah. The religious themes of movies always strike me as hilarious, being of no particular religious mindset. It was alright. But I'm glad it was free.
Comments on these movies? Recommendations on others to watch? Something out I just gotta see? I appreciate it! I love talkin' movies. Whatcha think?
